COLOGNE, Germany: With one innovative product recently released and another in the pipeline, Kuraray Noritake Dental is aiming to provide revolutionary solutions for restorative procedures. At the International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne, the company is showcasing its upcoming KATANA Zirconia Block—a multilayered material designed for the fabrication of full-contour zirconia prostheses—and giving an overview of its just-introduced CLEARFIL Universal Bond Quick, an adhesive that works within seconds of application.

The KATANA Zirconia Block is an extension of Kuraray’s successful KATANA line and has been specifically designed for integration with Dentsply Sirona’s CEREC system. The combination of Kuraray’s excellent materials and Dentsply Sirona’s advanced equipment will allow milling of full-zirconia restorations in 15 minutes and fabrication within 45 minutes. The KATANA Zirconia Block features four layers of shade gradation that eliminate the need for staining the restoration, as it will already possess a natural appearance.

Prof. Ivo Krejci, from the University of Geneva, highlighted the benefits of CLEARFIL in a short video presentation shown by Kuraray. Krejci cited several studies that affirmed the adhesive’s status as an excellent bonding agent for modern restorative dentistry. The product is another success for Kuraray, which has previously introduced popular bonding agents and cements, such as CLEARFIL SE BOND and PANAVIA V5 cement. Since CLEARFIL has an ultrathin film layer of 5–10 μm, it is resistant to discolouration at the edge of the restoration and thus promises better aesthetic results for patients.

Since the company was formed from a merger of Kuraray Medical and Noritake Dental Supply in April 2012, Kuraray Noritake has combined its knowledge of organic and inorganic chemistry to provide dental professionals with ideal solutions. The company is located at Booth D010–E019 in Hall 11.3 at IDS.
