COLOGNE, Germany: New E scanners and laboratory scanners, as well as a solution for same-day dentistry, are being shown by 3Shape during the next five days at IDS in Hall 4.2. This morning, the Danish digital dentistry specialist is also introducing major changes to its TRIOS intra-oral scanner during an event open to the dental press.

Several new features have been added to the scanner over the past year, which also saw the introduction of a more moderately priced model without colour scanning. Like all TRIOS models, the moderately-priced TRIOS 3 Mono features the same incredible speed and documented accuracy that has made TRIOS the winner of the Cellerant “Best of Class” Award for Technology for four consecutive years. 3Shape’s intra-oral scanner is cloud-connected to dental laboratories and more than 200 orthodontic service providers, such as Invisalign (Align Technology), and offers one of the widest selections of original implant libraries, including Straumann’s implant bars and bridges. It is also integrated with patient management systems, like Henry Schein’s Dentrix.

In Cologne, 3Shape is also introducing new E scanners, including the Red Dot Award-winning D2000 laboratory scanner. According to the company, the devices deliver the high-quality images, advanced scanning features and precision CAD/CAM workflows the company is known for, but at a more affordable price. Featuring two 5 MP cameras, Blue LED and multi-line high-speed scanning for optimal detail capture and accuracy, they will allow laboratories to complete more cases in less time, the company said. Dental laboratories now have the widest selection of scanners at their disposal to meet their needs and budgets.

Dental laboratories and practices will also benefit from new 3Shape solutions, such as scan bodies that are intended to make implant scanning much simpler. Available for all major implant systems, these highly durable titanium bodies allow dental professionals to capture implant positions accurately to make scanning much easier. They can be used with both intra-oral and dental laboratory scanners. A unique code identifies the implant system and connection.

Dental Laboratories can further support their 3Shape solutions with a free limited-services agreement and the full 3Shape LabCare package, which includes an optional warranty and scanner replacement service.

Also on display at IDS will be the TRIOS Design Studio for same-day dentistry. Designed as an easy-to-use chairside solution, it is powered by the same engine that drives 3Shape’s industry-leading CAD/CAM restorative design software used by the majority of dental laboratories around the world. The solution will provide clinicians with the ability to design and mill their own crowns or seamlessly cloud-share files with laboratories. For manufacturing, the company said that 3Shape TRIOS Design Studio provides practices with the freedom to choose from a range of verified and completely integrated milling machines, printers and materials.
