COLOGNE, Germany: Next year, the International Dental Show (IDS) will be celebrating two milestones. In addition to holding the 40th edition of the leading global trade fair of the dental industry from 14 to 18 March 2023, the organisers are looking forward to the show’s 100th anniversary. Today is the last day for stand applications for IDS 2023, they announced.

For over 30 years, IDS has been held at the Koelnmesse trade fair grounds in Cologne. In 1992, the Association of the German Dental Industry commissioned Koelnmesse with the planning and implementation of the event, which has been the major showcase for the latest innovations and market trends in dentistry ever since.

Despite the challenging circumstances for large-scale events that arose from the COVID-19 pandemic, IDS 2021 reaffirmed the show’s position as the leading dental trade fair worldwide. Held in September—six months later than usual—the event attracted around 23,000 visitors from 114 countries. Of these visitors, around 57% came from abroad—from Europe, mainly Italy, France, the Netherlands and countries in eastern Europe, as well as from the Middle East and elsewhere overseas. A total of 830 companies from 59 countries participated in a gross exhibition space of 115,000 m².

In 2023, the exhibition will be spread over seven halls again. Although specific numbers have not been reported, Koelnmesse stated that it has received numerous enquiries for booth bookings from companies. Those whose participation has been confirmed by the end of today will be included in the initial layout planning, the organisers said.

In collaboration with its German partner, OEMUS MEDIA, Dental Tribune International (DTI) will be releasing another dedicated today show daily edition for IDS. For two decades, the newspaper has been the trusted partner of exhibitors at IDS and the most comprehensive news source for visitors to the show. In addition, DTI will be providing dental professionals with the most important information leading up to IDS as well as extensive live coverage from Cologne on its dedicated website, international-dental-show.dental-tribune.com.
