COLOGNE, Germany: Having entered the commercial dental market over 40 years ago with the CLEARFIL BOND SYSTEM F, Kuraray Noritake Dental has an established history of providing products of high value. The company took the opportunity at IDS 2019 to demonstrate just how far it has come in that time by highlighting its range of KATANA Zirconia and dental cements.
Dr Heinz Schuh, Senior Technical Advisor at Kuraray Europe, welcomed attendees to the company’s press conference and emphasised that the company is “driven by technology, driven by R & D”. He then handed over to dental technician Björn Roland, who traced the journey of KATANA since the 2013 introduction of KATANA Zirconia ML. This was “a completely new product when introduced”, according to Roland, as its multilayer technology allowed for restorations to replicate the structure of natural dentition in an aesthetic manner. Roland’s long-standing experience using KATANA in his dental laboratory allowed him to speak with expertise about the various advancements that the product has since undergone, such as the creation of highly translucent and ultra-translucent varieties.
Dr Hendrik Zellerhoff then spoke about his experience with the KATANA Zirconia Block, which was released just last year. Designed for use with Dentsply Sirona’s CEREC system, the block allows for aesthetic restorations to be sintered in just 18 minutes and has created “a completely new class of restorative material”, according to Zellerhoff. “The KATANA Zirconia Block is a truly chairside solution,” he added.
Finally, Dr Jorge Espigares spoke about the cementation of zirconia in the daily clinical practice workflow. A member of the information marketing team at Kuraray Noritake Dental’s headquarters in Tokyo, Espigares chronicled the history of the company’s famed PANAVIA line of cements, highlighting the importance of its pioneering MDP monomer technology. He discussed the new PANAVIA SA Cement Universal, a resin cement that eliminates the use of primers thanks to its incorporation of a silane monomer. “Now the dental professional can focus on what really matters: the dental treatment itself,” concluded Espigares.
IDS attendees interested in learning more about Kuraray Noritake Dental’s range of products can visit the company’s booth (#D010–E019) in Hall 11.3.
