Awarded the 2018 German Innovation Award, the KaVo ORTHOPANTOMOGRAPH OP 3D is now available in four different configurations: panoramic, panoramic/cephalometric, panoramic/3-D, and panoramic/cephalometric/3-D. The patented ORTHOceph Plus design for cephalometric configurations enables fast cephalometric imaging scanning and adjustable field of view sizes for perfect image quality with a minimal radiation dose.
For more than 50 years, the name ORTHOPANTOMOGRAPH has been synonymous with innovation, reliability and clinically correct image quality. As the newest member of this near-legendary ORTHOPANTOMOGRAPH series, the KaVo OP 3D sets new standards in the dental market with its light, filigree design and numerous innovations. These characteristics also convinced the specialist jury of the 2018 German Innovation Award, which awarded the KaVo OP 3D with the Excellence in Business to Business prize.
Innovation in customisation: Various configurations and upgradability
To give the dentist the freedom of choice, the KaVo OP 3D is available in various configurations, expanding from panoramic only through inclusion of cephalometric and 3-D capabilities to a complete three-in-one configuration (panoramic, cephalometric, 3-D). In addition, the KaVo OP 3D is designed to be upgradeable, allowing it to grow with the needs of the practice.
Innovation becomes individuality: Customisable field of view
The KaVo OP 3D offers four predefined 3-D field of view (FOV) diameters based on clinical needs, along with the possibility of customising the height. FOV ⌀ 5 cm, with its endodontic resolution, is optimised for single-tooth and localised diagnostics. FOV ⌀ 9 cm offers the capability of scanning either the lower or upper jaw dentition, whereas FOV ⌀ 11 cm combines both. With the largest, optional FOV, 9 × ⌀ 14 cm, temporomandibular joint and airway studies can be conducted. With the KaVo OP 3D, you can benefit from a high number of flexible FOV sizes: the ORTHOselect function automatically sets the necessary FOV size, while SMARTVIEW 2.0 offers the possibility of adjusting the FOV location and diameter, along with customising the height between 5 cm and 9 cm in 5 mm increments with the aid of the scout image.
Innovation in 9 seconds: Fast scan time and immediate evaluation
The shorter the exposure time, the less likely it is for patient movement to affect the result of the exposure. To optimise image quality, Fast Scan enables panoramic images with an exposure time of only 9 seconds while keeping the radiation dose to the patient low.
Innovation always in focus: Selection of optimum layer with ORTHOfocus feature
For panoramic programs, the innovative ORTHOfocus feature automatically provides the optimal panoramic layer and displays it. The device scans the region of interest in the dental arch. The software searches each image pixel to select the sharpest point of a particular location in the acquired image data and then combines its findings into an optimum panoramic image. The result: consistently high image quality for every panoramic scan with easy and quick patient positioning, consequently leading to faster workflows.
Innovation in cephalometric imaging: Patented ORTHOceph Plus design
The innovative, patented ORTHOceph Plus design of the KaVo OP 3D takes cephalometric imaging workflow to a new level. The KaVo OP 3D provides all necessary protocols, such as lateral and paediatric lateral projections with adjustable field widths, posterior-anterior projections and optional carpus imaging—with fast scan times and a minimal dose.
