COLOGNE, Germany: Sharing radiographic images or intra-oral scans is highly time-consuming and takes up storage capacity owing to the large amounts of data generated. Privacy-compliant sharing of data via the DS Core platform is possible with just a few clicks. This is also a benefit for the environment, since sharing via DS Core renders CDs and USB sticks superfluous.

According to a survey undertaken by Dentsply Sirona among more than 1,300 dentists from Germany and six other core markets, most dentists are aware of the importance of sustainability. However, they lack background knowledge and concrete suggestions for implementation.

At IDS 2023, Dentsply Sirona is putting its sustainability commitment into practice: at least 80% of its booth is equipped with reused furniture, and no plastics or disposable materials are being used in its booth catering. The little waste produced will be recycled as far as possible. Also, there are no printed materials at the booth, since Dentsply Sirona employs digital communication formats. At the booth, attendees can obtain a digital toolkit which will guide users step by step on how to make their dental practice and laboratory more sustainable and thus make a very personal contribution to the environment. There is also the opportunity to win a sustainable product for the practice.

Cloud solutions instead of USB sticks

Dentsply Sirona invites trade show visitors to say goodbye to USB sticks and hello to the cloud. IDS attendees can even do some good for others by dropping their old, discarded and empty USB sticks into the DS Core ball: for every USB stick disposed of, Dentsply Sirona will donate €25 (up to a maximum donation of €15,000, or 600 USB sticks) to its partner organisation Smile Train, the world’s largest children’s aid organisation for the treatment of cleft lip and palate. The USB sticks will be professionally destroyed after the trade show.

The objective of the campaign is to make visitors aware of the advantages of cloud solutions from a sustainability point of view. If dentistry eliminates the use of physical data carriers in communicating with partners in practices and laboratories, a large amount of waste can be avoided. With cloud solutions, large amounts of data can be shared quickly and with just a few clicks. Dentsply Sirona offers such a privacy-compliant solution with DS Core, and visitors to IDS can learn more and try it out in Hall 11.2 at Booth K010–N019.

Editorial note:

Please note that it is the responsibility of the person disposing of the USB stick to completely erase all the data from it. Complete erasure is only deemed to have taken place if the recovery of the data is either impossible or only possible with special effort (according to DIN 66399). Dentsply Sirona will destroy the USB sticks and accepts no liability for any data still contained on them or for any damages resulting from their destruction.
