COLOGNE, Germany: In an entertaining and informative press conference on Tuesday, COLTENE demonstrated that its products and services are designed to be applicable to any endodontic or restorative procedure. At the event, held at the Hyatt Regency Cologne, several members of the company’s executive team outlined COLTENE’s vision for the dental consumables market.

One of the highlights of the press conference was undoubtedly a video of the endodontic treatment that Aalborg Zoo’s polar bear Lars received last year. As the tissue in two of his teeth had become severely necrotic, root canal therapy was deemed necessary by veterinarian Dr Trine Hammer Jensen. The procedure, for which Lars was anaesthetised, required 12 brave people to carry the unconscious animal out of his enclosure and on to a makeshift operating table. Many of COLTENE’s products, such as the 3 per cent CanalPro NaOCL irrigation solution and GuttaFlow bioseal, were used in the procedure, from which Lars has since recovered and benefitted.

COLTENE’s goal of providing high-quality and reliable digital dentistry solutions was a focal point of the event. The company launched BRILLIANT Crios, a reinforced composite block for CAD/CAM restorations, in 2016 and has since achieved great success with it. Its specifically designed compatibility with Dentsply Sirona’s CEREC system has proved to be mutually beneficial, and the block’s excellent mechanical properties have reinforced COLTENE’s reputation as an industry leader.

At IDS, COLTENE is located in Hall 10.2 at Booths P008–R009 and R010–S019.
